MigraCanada: We help you make it possible
It’s a special type of visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit Canada for extended periods, up to two years per entry, without needing to renew their status during that time. This visa is a popular option for families who want to reunite for a prolonged period without the need to apply for a traditional visitor visa, which usually only allows for shorter stays.

1. Family Relationship:
Eligibility: Only parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents can apply. Proof of this relationship (such as birth certificates) must be provided.
2. Invitation Letter:
Content: Must be provided by the child or grandchild residing in Canada. This letter should include details about the family relationship, the number of people living in the household, and a commitment to financial support during the applicant’s stay.
Financial Commitment: The child or grandchild must commit to financially supporting the applicant during their stay in Canada.
3. Medical Insurance:
Coverage: It is mandatory to have medical insurance from a Canadian company that covers the applicant for at least one year, with a minimum coverage of $100,000 CAD
Insurance Details: The insurance must cover hospitalization, medical care, and repatriation services.
4. Medical Examination:
Health Requirement: The applicant must undergo a medical examination conducted by a panel physician designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This examination ensures that the applicant does not pose a risk to Canadian public health.
5. Proof of Funds:
Sponsor’s Income: The inviting child or grandchild must demonstrate that they have sufficient income to support the applicant. This is assessed based on the number of people in the household and the minimum required income (Low Income Cut-Off, LICO).
6. Demonstrate Intent to Leave Canada:
Ties to Home Country: The applicant must demonstrate their intention to return to their home country at the end of their stay in Canada. This can be done by providing proof of family ties, property ownership, employment commitments, etc.
1. Length of Stay:
Stay Limit: The Super Visa allows for stays of up to 5 consecutive years per entry without needing to renew status during that time. However, the visa itself is valid for up to 10 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
2. Permitted Activities:
Work Restriction: Super Visa holders are not permitted to work in Canada. This visa is solely for family visits
Access to Services: Although the visa allows for extended stays, it does not grant access to social or health services funded by the Canadian government (hence the need for private medical insurance).
3. Status Renewal:
No Immediate Renewal Needed: Unlike other visitor visas that typically require renewal every six months, the Super Visa allows for a continuous stay of up to two years.
4. Sponsorship Eligibility:
Limited to Parents and Grandparents: Only parents and grandparents are eligible, excluding other family members such as siblings or other relatives.
5. Permanent Residence:
No Automatic Permanent Residence: Obtaining a Super Visa does not imply a direct path to permanent residence. Applicants must meet the requirements for temporary residence.
